Pau is running remarkable experiments with synthetic memories, particularly among the old and with dementia.

This becomes a visualisation, imperfect, blurry, but all the more powerful for that very imperfection.

These visualisations, based on memories with all their imperfections and lack of definition, can then become synthetic memories. Played back to the original prompt maker/patient.

And from synthetic memories we can develop reminiscence therapy.

An arresting phrase: “It was not a memory. It was a remembrance.
